As the new school year is starting to take shape, I thought it would be a good time to share some of the things are doing to start the year.

The Primary grades (K-2) have been working on letter recognition and finding there way around the keyboard, using Type 2 Learn.

3rd Grade has tarted working on “Who Am I” a short project to help them learn about each other, they have also been working on there spelling lists, helping them get a head start on some of their homework.

The 4th Grade have been working on their Yearbook project, which covers some of the important milestones of 4th Grade, like 1st week of school and science projects. They will continue to add to this project as the year goes along.

The 5th Grade is already deep into their Biome project, which will help them prepare for what they might find at Camp Edwards this year.

The Jr. Hi has been working on some creative writing, Ask them about “What would Happen If…” They will soon be starting on a Social Studies project for Ms. Peters.

Spent the last two days at IL-TCE learning about iLife and Blogging. Yesterdays session on iLife should help me try to figure out how to use the new Mac with students and how they can create some interesting podcasts or videos. Todays session on Blogging is giving me some ideas on how to use blogging in the lab, and how to add some new tools to make blogging more interesting.

I’ll be gone most of next week, Tuesday Feb. 27 and Weds. Feb. 28 I will be at the Illinois Technology Conference for Educators in St. Charles. I’ll be learning about podcasting and other Web 2.0 technologies and how they can be used back here at school. I’ll also be out there on Friday March, 2 to see what’s new in the world of educational  technology. Hopefully, when I return I’ll have some new things to show you on my blog page.
